The Department of Religious Education is a department that conducts scientific activities related to religious education and teaching. The department contributes to the field with its theoretical and conceptual studies by addressing the relationship between humans and religion from the perspective of education and religious education. In this context, the Department of Religious Education explains the justifications for religious education for the individual in Anthropological/Human, Psychological, Sociological, Cultural, Moral, and Universal dimensions and works on the reality of achieving a qualified religious education and teaching by being informed about new approaches related to religious education and teaching.
In this direction, the Department of Religious Education helps establish the connection between the past and the future by transferring the emergence of the science of religious education and its applications throughout history to the present. While contributing to the development of the science of religious education with its research, the Department of Religious Education also helps formal and informal religious education practices become qualified and efficient. The Department of Religious Education provides undergraduate and postgraduate education to ensure the training of qualified religious officials and the professional adequacy of those who will take on roles in religious teaching, as stated in the mission and vision of the Faculty of Theology. Students studying in the Theology Undergraduate programs at the Faculty of Theology can acquire knowledge and skills in areas such as the history of religious education, formal and informal religious education, etc., through the courses given by the faculty members of the Department of Religious Education.
