The Department of Islamic Philosophy focuses on the philosophical teachings put forward by Turkish, Arab, Indian, and Iranian thinkers living in the Islamic geography. This department aims to provide students of the Faculty of Theology with knowledge on subjects such as philosophy and the history of philosophy, as well as thought movements that emerged within Islamic culture and contemporary Islamic thought.
In our department, courses such as Islamic Philosophy, Islamic Moral Philosophy, and History of Islamic Science are offered at the undergraduate level; at the graduate level, courses such as Classical Texts of Islamic Philosophy, Fundamental Issues of Islamic Philosophy, Contemporary Islamic Thought, Philosophy-Religion Relationship in Islamic Thought, and Ottoman Intellectual History are provided.
