Department of History of Philosophy is a field of study consisting of two branches of science. These branches are; Ancient Philosophy and Modern Philosophy.
Department of History of Philosophy is a branch of science that examines the essence and nature of philosophy, and its place and position in the historical process. Its aim is to reveal the development of philosophy from past to present, to ask questions about issues related to existence, knowledge, and value where humans experience intellectual problems, and to ensure that the answers to these questions are analyzed with a philosophical method.
Students taking the History of Philosophy course in the Faculty of Theology encounter various philosophical formations within the framework of key concepts such as “thinking”, “reasoning”, and “wisdom”, and acquire knowledge produced in these areas. The teaching of the History of Philosophy plays a role in imparting the dimensions of thinking in human history and its transmission to different generations, and in tracing the intellectual accumulation of humanity.
Our Department; in addition to undergraduate education, also plans to offer various courses under the umbrella of Philosophy and Religious Sciences with postgraduate education.
