Science of Kalām is a religious and intellectual branch of science that evaluates Islamic beliefs on rational and traditional grounds, examining them under three main headings: primarily divinity, prophethood, and eschatology. In terms of its subject, it is defined as "a science that discusses the essence and attributes of Allah, creation and the hereafter, the states of the created beings in terms of beginning and end, according to Islamic laws." The purpose of the science of Kalām is to prove religious beliefs by using definitive evidence and eliminating doubts that may arise in matters of faith. For this, the science of Kalām systematically uses rational and traditional evidence.

While examining a wide range of theological attitudes on religious understandings in topics such as existence, knowledge, value, politics, and ethics, as well as faith, disbelief, apostasy, fate, etc., the science of Kalām, in addition to the rules of logic, bases itself on philosophical thought and also benefits from the main sources of religious sciences, the Qur'an and Sahih Sunnah. The science of Kalām also addresses and tries to solve the problems of the contemporary world and its people, such as reincarnation, Satanism, stem cells, the relationship between religion and science, the relationship between religion and politics, and atheism.

In the undergraduate curriculum, the courses "Islamic Belief Principles," "Kalām I," and "Kalām II" are compulsory, while the courses "Contemporary Kalām Problems" and "Classical Kalām Texts" are offered as electives.
